Connect'd Men is a community where men slow down, open up and reconnect, with themselves and each other. These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you when you use this site, the member community and our gatherings. By creating an account or joining a gathering, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can take part
Connect'd Men is for adult men. You must be at least 18 to create an account or attend a gathering. One account per person, in your own name.
2. Peer support, not therapy
Our gatherings and community are peer support: men listening to men. They aren't therapy, counselling, medical care or crisis support, and our facilitators aren't acting as professionals when they lead a gathering. If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8 (Canada) any time, or call 911 in an emergency.
3. Our group agreements
Every gathering, in person or online, rests on a few agreements. We ask everyone to keep them:
- Keep confidentiality. What's shared in a gathering stays there. Don't repeat another man's story, or anything that could identify him, outside the group.
- No recording. Don't record, photograph or screenshot a gathering or another member's words without everyone's permission.
- Speak from your own experience and listen without judgment. Hold space; don't try to fix.
- Respect each other. No harassment, threats, hate, or put-downs of anyone's background, beliefs or orientation.
4. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what's done with your account.
- You can close your account at any time by contacting us.
5. What you share in the community
- What you post (words, photos, videos) stays yours. You give us permission to show it to the members you've shared it with, for as long as you leave it up. You can delete it whenever you like.
- Only post what you have the right to share. Don't post anyone else's private information, or photos of other people without their permission.
- No selling, advertising, recruiting for other programs, or spam.
- Private messages are private. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can block him or report the conversation; only then can an administrator read it.
6. When something isn't right
To keep the community safe, we may remove posts, comments or messages that break these terms, and pause or close an account. Where we can, we'll talk with you first. If you see something that worries you, tell your facilitator or contact us.
7. Gatherings
- Gatherings are led by volunteer facilitators and held in public or community spaces, or online. You take part by your own choice, and you're responsible for your own wellbeing and safety getting there and while you're there.
- Dates can move or be cancelled; we'll let those who said they're coming know.
- Online gatherings run on our own meeting service. The same agreements apply, including no recording.
8. Our content
Articles, videos, themes and other material we publish belong to Connect'd Men or the people who made them. You're welcome to share links to them. Please don't copy, re-upload or change them without asking.
9. Support and payments
Gatherings are free. If you choose to support Connect'd Men with a payment, it's handled by our payment processor. Questions about a charge? Contact us and we'll sort it out.
10. The limits of what we promise
We work hard to keep the site running well and the community safe, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Connect'd Men isn't responsible for indirect losses arising from your use of the site or your participation in gatherings, or for what other members say or do. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. If a change matters, we'll let members know.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
